About Dr. Reisinger

Dr. Diane Reisinger is a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon and a fellow member of the American College of Mohs Surgery (FACMS). She is also board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD).

Dr. Reisinger's first career was as a molecular virologist working at prestigious institutions including the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France. Her cutting edge research explored interferon's effectiveness as an anticancer agent, as well as research on human papilloma virus leading to molecular probes testing for cervical cancer on women's PAP smears. This cancer research experience influenced Dr. Reisinger's decision to pursue a career as a physician.

She received her medical degree from the University of Southern California with highest honors in 1993 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Following her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of California in Los Angeles, she completed her Dermatology residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After 12 years in a very busy general dermatology practice focused on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of skin cancer, she pursued an American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) fellowship in Tallahassee, Florida.

Dr. Reisinger has a referral-based practice dedicated to the treatment of skin cancer. She performs Mohs surgery on biopsy-proven skin cancers and no longer practices general dermatology.; With her extensive experience and outstanding educational background, she proudly offers compassionate care with her technical expertise and meticulous same day reconstruction. Unique to her fellowship training, she trained with a plastic surgeon for the reconstruction of the skin cancer defects. Since 2008 she has dedicated her practice exclusively to Mohs surgery and has been serving New Mexico skin cancer patients since 2012. Dr. Reisinger has performed over 10,000 cases achieving excellent surgical statistics and outcomes. In select cases, she collaborates with a team of surgeons, pathologists, radiologists and oncologists to provide complete skin cancer management. She is one of only a few fellow members of the ACMS in New Mexico.

Beyond her very busy surgical practice, Dr. Reisinger has been actively involved in training dermatology residents and has authored numerous scientific and medical publications. Committed to community service, she has served on medical missions to Mexico, Central and South America and has been honored for her volunteerism by the American Academy of Dermatology. In her spare time, she enjoys writing children's books, stained glass art and repurposing antique and vintage fabric.
