Am I a good candidate for VBEAM laser treatment?

A good candidate for treatment with the VBEAM laser should meet these criteria:

  • Is not recently tanned.
  • Is not currently on Accutane (isotretinoin) therapy.
  • Is not pregnant.
  • Does not have a history of light triggered seizures.
  • Does not have an active skin infection or recurrent cold sores.
  • Does not have implanted medical devices such as pacemakers, cardioverters, etc.
  • Does not have a history of photosensitivity (allergy or strong sensitivity to light). 
What is the typical price range of VBEAM laser treatment?

Treatments with the VBEAM laser typically range from $200 to $900 per treatment depending upon size of area being treated. This pricing is subject to change and exact pricing will be determined in consult with one of our dermatologists. Sometimes a test spot is recommended to determine appropriate response. What is the typical number of treatments necessary with the VBEAM laser?

The typical number of treatments necessary with the VBEAM laser are 4-12 treatments done in 2-6 week intervals, but this will depend on the condition being treated. 

What can I expect from treatment with the VBEAM laser?

Patients can expect minor irritation and redness on the area treated by the VBEAM laser. This irritation should resolve in about 5-14 days. Immediately following treatment, there may be discomfort in the treated area and cool packs or Tylenol is recommended to alleviate this discomfort. For some patients, especially in children, more noticeable bruising and purple discoloration will occur. You may not want to plan to have photos taken during this time.Patients should be prepared to avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks after treatment and apply SPF 30 or higher sunblock to area after the treatment. Makeup may be applied to the area about a few days after treatment.
