Aesthetic Dermatology

The Dermatology Clinic at UNM provides a wide variety of aesthetic dermatology services including:

  • Botox injections, consisting of a small dose of Botulinum toxin (a protein and neurotoxin) that is used to prevent the development of wrinkles by paralyzing facial muscles. Injections last for approximately three to four months, but can last up to six months.
  • Chemical peels, a body treatment technique that is used to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by using a chemical solution that causes dead skin to slough and eventually peel off leaving regenerated skin that is usually less wrinkled and smoother than the old skin.
  • Keloid improvement, which is generally treated by cortisone injection(s) or surgery.
  • Skin rejuvenation, a treatment to improve the texture, clarity, and overall appearance of skin with laser treatment.
  • Mole and skin tag removals are done via a surgical process called excision, which involves numbing the affected area with local anesthetic and removing the mole or tag.
  • Sclerotherapy, an injection treatment for spider veins and varicose veins..
